IT Camp

During our IT Camps students from different subject areas are given the opportunity to combine theory and practice. For many years the Munich-based companies MaibornWolff et al and Beck et al Services have invested in high quality University level education and the promotion of junior IT staff. Both companies understand this as being part of their social responsibility and are therefore continuously contributing to the communication between theory and practice. The IT Camp illustrates how we promote up-and-coming IT expertise. The professional series of events comprises topics like IT-Consulting, Test management, Service management and Software engineering.

Through the passing on of practical know-how MaibornWolff et al promotes not just the relationship between students and companies but also offers future newcomers the opportunity for an intensive primary exchange with MaibornWolff et al.

Holger Wolff, co-founder and managing partner at MaibornWolff et al says: “Recruitment doesn't rank first in our IT Camps. Whilst being a student myself, I was able to hugely benefit from a continuous exchange with different companies. Now it's my turn to pass on my own expertise to students and newcomers in the field. The promotion of up-and-coming IT staff is something we see as our social responsibility – a responsibility we accept with great pleasure.”

“It was a great event.” says Lars Wederhake, computer science student at TU Munich and participant of the IT Camp 2008. “In conjunction with the experts we had the opportunity to review and discuss different case studies. The various lectures professionally edited the subject of IT-Consulting and in doing so enabled the coverage of the further education issue for us. What's more, we were able to extend our personal network. Fringe events like, for example the joint visit to a cart racing track, offered a great opportunity to get to know each other better.”

IT Conference

Most CIOs have successfully done their homework. Standards are defined, the system landscape is consolidated, the IT operation is efficiently organized and in the IT-departments the scope for “Innovation in IT” and “Innovation through IT” is growing again. Yet at the same time IT bosses are subject to even more challenging tasks: They are expected to quickly convert business models and create competitive advantages for their companies.

At our annual conference “IT and Innovation” on the 15th February 2008 we conducted an intensive exchange of ideas with leading IT managers on the correlation of IT and Innovation. In a close and personal atmosphere our invited guests received valuable first-hand suggestions and ideas from experts around the following areas:

  • Martin Jetter, Chairman of business management at IBM Germany GmbH:
Added value through innovation and integration.
  • Prof. Bernd Brügge, TU Munich, Institute of Information technology I1, Applied Software Engineering:
Software cinema: Requirements Engineering with a difference.
  • Karl Pomschar, CIO and Senior Vice President Information Technology, Qimonda AG:
Innovation – the essential part of a successful organization.

An exclusive “bigger IT-picture” was provided early evening by:

  • Brigadier General Erhard Drews, Centre for transformation of the German armed forces:
Transformation management: Pre-requisite for the successful operation-oriented realignment of the Bundeswehr.
